K-pop star sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting foreign woman
The Seoul Central District Court announced the verdict on Thursday. The court immediately ordered the 31-year-old singer to be detained after the verdict was announced.
Two other accomplices of Taeil involved in the case were also sentenced to the same term and have also been arrested.
They sexually assaulted a foreign woman in Seoul in June 2024. The three were charged while on bail in March this year.
The court ruling said that the nature of the crime was very serious. Because the victim was drunk at the time and had no ability to resist.
The court ordered that each of the convicted persons must participate in a 40-hour sexual violence prevention treatment program. Earlier, the prosecution had asked for seven years in prison for them.
Teil was expelled from NCT in August last year after police questioning.
